Live longer, better
126-age is a food supplement made of a proprietary blend of Oleuropein, Bioavaible Glutathione and vitamins B12 and D3, designed to remove the risk factors of neurodegeneration and, in particular, to reduce oxidative stress and the excess of ion free copper in plasma, therefore counteracting the progression of the neurodegenerative process.
Brain functioning is known to naturally decline as we age, and mild cognitive impairment is a transitional state when small changes in memory and other mental abilities coexist with normal functioning. Such declines in functions are often a warning sign of dementia, a term used to describe various different brain disorders with a progressive loss of brain functioning.
Recent scientific evidences suggest that neurodegenerative diseases are accompanied by oxidative stress, inflammation, metal accumulation and mitochondrial dysfunctions. Various physiological mechanisms are altered by these pathological changes which contribute to etiology of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and Huntington’s disease. The prevention and treatment of these disorders with complex mechanisms need novel therapeutic strategies targeted for multiple genes and proteins.
In recent years, a number of dietary factors including antioxidants, vitamins, and polyphenols have been characterized for their ability to protect cells stressed by several factors, including the presence of amyloid deposits as well as to inhibit amyloid self-assembly and cytotoxicity and some of them are currently in clinical trial. Glutathione, N-Acetyl-Cysteine, a metabolic precursor of glutathione, and Polyphenols, are well known for their ability to chelate and favour the detoxification of body from heavy metals, including copper whose accumulation in the brain has been associated with higher risk of neurodegeneration. Polyphenols, for example, exhibit remarkable multipotent ability to control and modulate reactive oxygen species, metal toxicity, inflammation, apoptosis, signal transduction, ion channels, and neurotransmitters.
So the use of antioxidants with neurotrophic and neuro-protective potential, as that elicited by an association of Bacopa monnieri and vitamin E, may be useful in countering or slowing cognitive decline by acting synergistically on underlying neuro-pathological processes.
